Parent School Connection
Parent School Connection is an on-going program held at both Alice Terry and Fort Logan Elementary Schools. It involves parents, students and teachers together in improving students’ academic skills, focusing primarily on the areas of literacy and math. This program continues to be successful in encouraging families to enjoy reading, writing and learning together! It enables students to be more successful in school.
Parents, students and teachers have monthly evening meetings from October to March to explore various topics of interest. In the past speakers have included Sheridan’s Superintendent of Schools, the Branch Manager of the Sheridan Public Library, presenters from the Denver Museum of Nature and Science and talented storytellers, to name just a few! Parent School Connection actively supports Sheridan’s community literacy initiative, “See Me Read.”
Children participating in Parent School Connection are rewarded for the amount of at-home reading they do. Teachers and librarians share their own ideas and knowledge about how to make reading a wonderful and meaningful experience for children and their families.
Parent School Connection continues to grow, and is a positive experience for everyone who is involved!
